Created in the image of God

Okay, so I've heard that phrase a million times-- "created in the image of God." Look at Genesis 1:27:
"God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."
But how do we really reflect our Creator? Barbara Mouser gives some sweet examples of how our spiritual image reflects God's Spirit in the lesson I'm going through in Five Aspects of Woman. Here are a few examples:

righteousness & just: right and wrongs are based on who God is, not a list of dos and don'ts; because He is righteous and just, we have a conscience and innate sense of justice

sovereignty: no matter how rebellious we are, God always has it under His rule; because He is sovereign, we have a human will & responsibility.

love: God is love; because He is love, we are able to receive and give love, but on a finite scale.

omniscient: because He is all-knowing, we have minds. We have imagination, logic, creative abilities; we can read His Word and understand it; we can pray to Him and He understands us.

omnipotence: because He is all-powerful, we have some power spiritually and physically.

immutable: God's personal responses are fluid, but His character never changes; because He is immutable, we have character stability.

eternality: He has no beginning or end; because He is eternal, we have a beginning, but no end-- we are immortal.

The one attribute that stuck with me in particular was the idea that because God is omniscient. we have a mind. And that because we have that ability to think and communicate, we are able to read His Word and pray to Him (knowing we are understood!).

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." [Psalm 119:105]
"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." [Romans 8:26-27]

Just wanted to share that little nugget of truth.
