At Reality LA, we've been going through the book of Hosea for several weeks now. Yesterday I listened to one of the best sermons I've heard in a while. (Watch/listen/download it here!) I don't know why it comes as a surprise every time, but I continue to be blown away by the ever-present relationship between the Old Testament and the Gospel. I guess that's a "duh" statement. But to think that the husband-wife relationship of Hosea and Gomer directly reflects the unfathomable love of our Savior is amazing to me.
Not to mention, Galatians 3 completely blew my mind today. I love how it describes the intent of the Law and how important that law was in setting up the coming of Christ.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "All the nations shall be blessed in you." So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. (v.8-9)
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothes yourselves with Christ. (v.26-27)
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. (v.29)
The Law promised blessing upon Israel if they remained obedient to their God and His commands. Christ came out of the seed of Abraham to provide a way for us to live in faith through Him. And now we all have the opportunity to receive the blessings that the Israelite nation once did because we are heirs to Christ! Aaaaahhh. So cool. I'm going to camp out in Galatians 3 for the next few days.
God's Word is so good!
